RMHD to Open Family Room in The Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in 2017
Keeping families close has been the on-going mission of the Ronald McDonald House of Danville. Research shows that a family presence in the hospital helps children heal and cope better. In addition, staying close allows parents to better communicate with their child’s medical team and helps them maintain complicated treatment plans.
We are excited to announce that within our 35th anniversary year we are still holding strong to that mission and will be expanding our services into the Janet Weis Children’s hospital. We have partnered with the Geisinger Health System leadership and we will be opening a Ronald McDonald Family Room in the spring of 2017.
When a child is critically ill, parents are reluctant to leave the hospital but are desperately in need a break from the ongoing stress of beeping monitors and busy intensive care units. Our Ronald McDonald Family Room will offer a special place of calm, relaxation, and privacy within the walls of the hospital. It provides a small oasis of calm and normalcy amidst the tense chaotic, medical setting-yet parents are just steps away from their child’s bedside.
Our excitement abounds for the many families we will be able to help with our new Family Room. We could not continue our mission of keeping families close if it were not for our friends like you.
