The Ronald McDonald House of Danville could not function if it was not for our dedicated volunteers. These caring individuals are the foundation on which our organization is built. They provide countless hours of dedicated service to support the families who use all of our programs.

There are many opportunities to volunteer your gift of time at the Ronald McDonald House of Danville and each opportunity offers flexible schedules.

Ronald McDonald Family Room Volunteer

A Family Room Volunteer is the foundation of the room’s services. Smiling volunteers welcome families into the room and orientate them to the available services.

Desk Attendant Volunteer
A desk attendant volunteer provides the first welcoming smile to our families. These selfless volunteers assist families through the check in and check out process and conduct House tours. They are there in case a family needs assistance throughout their stay.

Task Volunteer
We would be lost without our Task Volunteers. These detail-oriented volunteers are ready to lend a hand to organize, clean, or stuff envelopes. They are the glue that keeps our House together and running for our families.

Meal Volunteer
A warm meal can be a welcoming comfort to our families after spending a long day at the hospital. Our Meal Volunteers definitely provide a recipe of love for our families.

Junior Volunteer
It is important to begin the volunteer experience at an early age. Our Junior Volunteers have some of the biggest hearts. A Junior Volunteer is between the age of 12 years old and 17 years old.  A legal age volunteer and/or staff have to be present when a Junior Volunteer is volunteering within the House. Junior volunteers are similar to Task Volunteers and can perform the same duties in accordance to their age. In addition, a Junior Volunteer may be an assistant to the Desk Attendant or Meal Volunteers.

Project Volunteer
Our House welcomes any new ideas and/or projects proposed which would support our mission. Project Volunteers have provided valuable services to our program. Some Project Volunteers have been:

  • College Interns
  • Work Study Participants
  • Community Projects

All prospective Desk Attendants, Task Volunteers, and Junior Volunteers undergo a screening process. This process includes completing a volunteer application, interviewing with a staff member and undergoing reference and background checks.
